The package contains a bulletproof vest of a modern American soldier in its own right in 1:16 scale, that is in the size in which the figure of an adult person measures roughly eleven centimeters. The accessory is intended for equipping a figure or for laying into a scene beside a vehicle, on a cargo bed, on an ammunition box or on a seat. It is supplied unpainted and without a figure.
The large scales reveal every detail, so with them it pays to replace simplified equipment from the box with a separately made part. The vest suits static as well as radio-controlled models of military equipment in 1:16 scale, where it works as a small human element of the scene: it suggests the presence of a crew even without a figure standing on the model. The designation 2 refers to one particular form within the manufacturer's range; other numbers have a different cut and arrangement of the equipment, so compare the forms before buying.
First separate the part carefully from the casting block and level the area after the cut with a file or a sanding sponge. Before painting, wash it in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry properly, so that the paint holds. Choose the glue according to the material of the part: cyanoacrylate glue holds reliably on resin as well as on printed parts, and when gluing onto plastic it helps to roughen the mating surface slightly. Spray the surface with primer, apply the base shade with an airbrush and bring out the relief with a dark wash in the folds and a dry brush along the edges of the straps and buckles. A textile material looks convincing when the surface stays matte.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a figure and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
