This item is not a model of a car but a set of a front and a rear tubular bar in 1:24 scale, shaped for the second generation Mazda RX-7, that is the FC3S type. A bash bar replaces the production bumper with a frame of welded tubes: it protects the body on contact with another car or with a barrier and serves at the same time as a solid point for towing. According to the name both parts are in the set, the front and the rear one.
The Mazda RX-7 FC3S is the second generation of this coupe, built from the middle of the 1980s. It was powered by a 13B series Wankel rotary engine, and thanks to its balanced chassis and rear-wheel drive it became one of the most popular cars of the drift scene. It was in drifting that bash bars spread: the body gets damaged while driving along a barrier, a tubular frame protects it and is easy to replace. A model built with a bash bar therefore comes across not as a car from a showroom but as a car that gets used.
Tubular frames are thin and fragile at the joints, so separate them with a sharp modeling scalpel and with support, not with nippers. Before painting, wash them in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap; sand the remains of casting blocks or print supports over and protect your breathing while sanding. Check dry whether the frame fits the front and rear end of the body and level any overhang with a file, as with conversion parts that is an ordinary part of the work. Glue them with super glue, ideally the gel kind, which gives you time to line it up. Bash bars are most often sprayed in matte black or in a striking signal color; a scuffed look is well imitated with a light dry brush and a little pigment on the lower edge.
