A set of photo-etched parts for the BMW M3 model of the E30 generation in circuit specification, in 1:24 scale. According to the name it is tied to two particular outings of the car: the Japanese touring car championship in 1993 and the race at Macau in 1991. The package holds metal pressings that replace elements plastic cannot make thin enough; it does not hold the car kit itself.
The BMW M3 in the E30 body generation came about as a homologation car for Group A and was powered by a high-revving four-cylinder engine. In circuit racing it was one of the most successful touring cars of the late 1980s and early 1990s and appeared in European as well as Asian series. It was precisely the Asian outings, among them the Japanese championship and the street circuit at Macau, that brought a number of striking color schemes.
Cut the parts off with a scalpel on a hard surface and make the folds along the whole length of the edge at once, or the sheet will ripple and it will show on glossy paint. Apply super glue in a minimal amount; for fine meshes and grilles it works well to put a drop on a piece of foil and pick it up with the tip of a wire. Degrease the metal parts and spray them with primer, as paint holds badly on brass without it. Deal with the seats, the cage and the belts in the cabin before you close the body up, and leave the exterior elements for the very end of the build.
