A resin set from the Reskit brand for models of the Grumman F-14B and F-14D Tomcat carrier-borne fighter in 1:72 scale. According to the name it holds nozzles in both positions, open and closed, so during the build you choose the version to match the particular situation you want to capture, or build the model with each engine different, as it commonly looks on real machines. It is not a kit of the aircraft but an accessory that replaces the plastic parts of the tail end.
The Tomcat was a two-seat carrier-borne fighter with a variable-geometry wing, operated from the decks of aircraft carriers. The F-14B and F-14D versions were powered by General Electric F110-GE-400 engines, which replaced the older TF30 and noticeably changed the shape of the tail end. The petals of the exhaust nozzles change position with the engine setting, so two photographs of the same aircraft can show the tail end differently each time; for a model it is therefore practical to have both variants at hand.
Before building, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and so remove mold release agent residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the cut wet with respiratory protection. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic does not work. It is a good idea to dry-fit the parts first and tune the mating surface. After the primer, work with metallic shades, build the heat staining up gradually in thin layers and always darken the inside of the nozzle, so that it does not look flat.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check the fit with your kit before buying.
