A plastic kit of the Japanese executive car Nissan Cedric in the four-door hardtop body version with a two-liter engine and SGL-E equipment. The 1:24 scale matches the most widespread automotive range, so the finished model will sit alongside the other road cars in a collection in size. The manufacturer is Aoshima, a Japanese brand focused on domestic car production.
The Cedric was Nissan's flagship in the large sedan segment and in Japan it served as a company and executive car. The hardtop body version did without a fixed center pillar between the side windows, which gave it a lighter and more elegant profile than an ordinary sedan. The letter E at the end of the equipment designation refers to fuel injection, and a two-liter inline six-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive was the usual choice in this class. Together with the related Gloria type, the Cedric is among the most typical representatives of the Japanese luxury production of the period.
The large flat surfaces of a hardtop body are uncompromising toward surface defects, so after sanding the parting lines do not skimp on filler primer and check the surface against the light. Restrained period shades suit it, ideally with a gloss clear coat and subsequent polishing. There is a lot of chrome on this subject, so get good masking tape ready and a thin brush or a chrome marker for the window frames, the trim strips and the bumpers. The interior deserves muted shades and a fine dry brush, because on cars of this class it is clearly visible through the large windows once the model is finished.
