An injection-molded plastic kit of the Asurada G.S.X machine in the aerodynamic circuit configuration Aero Mode. The subject is a car from a Japanese animated series about formula racing of the future, not a real automobile. The 1:24 scale is the standard for automotive kits, so the model can be displayed next to ordinary road and racing cars. It is made by the Japanese firm Aoshima, and the kit is meant to be glued and painted.
Asurada is the central machine of the series, and its circuit form rests on a smooth, enclosed body with covered wheels and a prominent aerodynamic package. Compared with the off-road variant it sits lower, has stretched wheel covers and smoother transitions between the hood and the sides. The cockpit is single-seat and set on the centerline of the car, and the whole shape is carried as one continuous volume.
A smooth body of this kind lives or dies by its paint. After leveling the seams, start with a filler primer in light gray, let it mature for at least a day and sand it with wet paper of around 1000 grit, otherwise every unevenness will be emphasized under gloss paint. Apply the color in several thin coats with pauses, and leave the last one a little wetter so that it flows out. After a week of drying the surface can be polished with cutting compound and finished with a wax for models, which gets rid of orange peel and small dust specks. Only a coat thick enough can be polished; on thin paint you will cut through to the primer.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
