A detail accessory in 1:24 scale from the Polish brand Yamamoto Model Parts. The rear downforce wing with uprights is meant to be mounted on the trunk lid of a car model and it is the second of the numbered variants the brand makes in this line. It is not a kit of a car; you obtain the model itself separately.
A wing gives a model a circuit or drift expression and it is at the same time one of the few accessories that can be fitted even to a finished model with no work inside the interior. The choice between the variants is mainly a question of shape and of proportion against the particular car, so it pays to compare the two before you decide.
The most common way to finish such a wing is not paint in the color of the car but a carbon look. That is best done with a decal with a carbon pattern, which is applied over a smooth glossy black base and laid down in sections, so that no creases form on the rounded edges. Use a softener and let the decal dry until the next day. At the end comes a semi-matte clear varnish, which evens the transition between the decal and the surface around it out, so that the edge of the decal disappears and the surface looks like one single part. If you combine a carbon blade with painted uprights, finish each part separately and join them only once they have dried. While mounting it, set the angle of attack according to the car: an aggressive angle belongs on a drift car, while a street build will take a wing almost flat. Strengthen the joint between an upright and the lid with a short pin of wire set into a pre-drilled hole, because the wing is tall and leverage acts on it every time the model is handled.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a kit of the vehicle. Glue, paints and further parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
