A kit of injection-molded plastic in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Aoshima. The subject is the Nissan of the Y31 generation offered under two trade names, Cedric and Gloria, in the V20 Twincam Turbo Gran Turismo SV version from 1987. Aoshima keeps Japanese sedans of the 1980s as a regular part of its range and this generation belongs among its typical subjects. The particular number of parts, the extent of the decals, the treatment of the interior and the presence of an engine are described in the instructions enclosed in the box.
The Y31 generation was offered in Japan at the same time as the Cedric and the Gloria, that is technically identical vehicles told apart by their trade name and by details of the grille. The Gran Turismo family brought a more sportily tuned standard with a modified chassis and with a turbocharged six-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts, designated in the name as Twincam Turbo. The vehicle combines a sober sedan body with powerful engineering, which made it a favorite choice in Japan for sporting as well as representative use.
With the long straight flank surface of a sedan the preparation of the surface is fundamental; sand the mold parting lines gradually from coarser to a grit of around two thousand and then polish. Paint over a primer in thin coats, and make period two-tone standards by masking at the edge of a trim strip. Lay down a gloss clear coat before the decals, and once it has dried clear coat again and even the gloss out. Deal with the chrome window frames and trim strips with a metallic paint or with a foil at the end. Bring the interior to life by telling the upholstery apart and by a fine emphasis of the edges of the instrument panel.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
