The Audi R8 LMS is a customer racing car of the GT3 category derived from the production R8 coupe. It differs from the road version mainly in lightened construction, a safety cage, a sequential gearbox, racing aerodynamics with a large rear wing and a splitter, and rear-wheel drive, which the GT3 rules require. At the heart of the car is a naturally aspirated V10. The GT3 category became the backbone of endurance and sprint series around the world precisely because it builds on production-derived bodies and on balancing performance between the makes. Prepare the body by degreasing it and sanding the parting lines gently, then apply a filler primer. Racing finishes with bold color transitions are easier to manage with an airbrush and masking layer by layer. Apply a gloss varnish before the decals, settle the sponsor decals with a softener section by section and let them dry properly, and only then varnish over them. Protect the glazing with a mask or cement it right at the end with a glue for clear parts. We recommend finishing and fitting the interior with its cage, seat and fire suppression system before closing the body up.
