1:24 Republic P-47D Thunderbolt blast tubes, gunsight and pitot tube is a turned metal detail set from MASTER for the large 1:24 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a set of replacement parts.

A turned metal set from the Polish brand MASTER for a large-scale kit of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter. The set contains the blast tubes of the Browning .50 caliber machine guns, a gunsight and a pitot tube. In 1:24 scale each of these elements is clearly visible on the model, so the difference between a plastic molding and precisely machined metal shows at first sight. On the metal parts the mouths of the blast tubes have a real opening, which in plastic otherwise has to be laboriously drilled out.
The P-47D Thunderbolt was an American single-seat fighter powered by a radial engine with a turbocharger. It was among the heaviest single-engine fighters of its day and, besides escorting bomber formations, it proved itself in attacks on ground targets. The machine guns were housed in the wing and their barrels emerged from the leading edge through exactly the kind of short cylindrical tubes that are the subject of the parts in this set.
First open up the holes in the leading edge of the wing with a micro drill to the diameter of the parts and check that they sit in one plane and stand out by the same amount. Degrease the metal and go over it with a primer, and only then paint it. Fit the gunsight and the pitot tube only once the varnish and the decals are on. Use cyanoacrylate glue in small amounts, as any excess on metal leaves white marks that are hard to remove.
The set is supplied unpainted and without a kit. The glue, the paints and the base model are not included in the package.
