A plastic kit of the first generation Toyota Crown Majesta in the C Type trim level, in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima. The model captures a prestige sedan of 1991, from the peak of the Japanese bubble era, when domestic carmakers showed off the best of their engineering. For collectors of Japanese limousines this is a subject that does not come along often in scale modeling.
In 1991 the Crown Majesta took its place at the very top of the Crown range: above the standard versions it added a longer wheelbase, a newly engineered unitary body and above all the four-liter 1UZ-FE V8, shared with Toyota's flagship for overseas markets. With it came a softly tuned suspension, generous equipment and a restrained, conservatively elegant design. In Japan this was a car for company directors and the state administration; today it is a prized icon of the era of JDM luxury.
We recommend spraying the body in a dark gloss shade over a light primer, as dark green, burgundy or black metallic suit the subject. The chrome window frames can be done with polished foil or a silver pen, and the shine is supported by a final clear coat and a light polish. The interior rewards patience: the stitching of the seats and the wood trim of the dashboard come alive under a dry brush and a fine brush loaded with brown tones.
