Masks for the cockpit glazing of the Hawker Typhoon Mk Ib heavy fighter-bomber in 1:24 scale. Covering from both sides is included; neither insignia nor the model are in the package.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Typhoon was originally to replace the Hurricane in the role of a high-altitude fighter, but the twenty-four-cylinder Napier Sabre engine suffered from failures and performance at great altitudes fell short. The aircraft found its place elsewhere. With eight rockets under the wings or two bombs it became the scourge of columns, bridges and railway junctions, especially in the weeks after the landings in Normandy. Its recognition features were the massive radiator under the nose and the loud voice of the engine, which gave an approaching machine away at a great distance. The wing was thick and robust, which helped the load capacity of the bomb racks. Early examples had a cockpit with side doors as in a car; later ones received a sliding teardrop canopy with a markedly better view.
The film is cut to the framing of the windscreen and the canopy, that is to the parts sprayed last on a large model. According to the stated contents, covering from the outside as well as the inside is prepared.
On this type the form of the cockpit is what decides. The shapes for the teardrop canopy will not fit the version with side doors, or the other way round, so you need to know which form the kit you are building represents. The line has a separate item for the version with the doors, so the choice comes down to the shape of the cockpit, not the name of the aircraft. The difference is obvious at first glance and on the finished model too. National insignia, recognition bands and numbers are not included; those stay on the decals or are dealt with by a separate set.
