Hasegawa 1:24 Volkswagen Beetle Type 1 Moon Equipped is a limited edition plastic kit of the legendary Beetle in the yellow livery of the Californian aftermarket brand Moon.
Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa in a limited edition. The basis is the classic Volkswagen Type 1, that is the Beetle, completed by decals and a striking yellow body in the style of the Californian brand Moon, which has been firmly bound up with the American aftermarket scene since the 1950s. The finished model is around seventeen centimeters long. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Volkswagen Type 1 is one of the most-produced cars in history. A rear-mounted air-cooled four, simple construction and a low price made it a car that sold all over the world for several decades and outlived several generations of rivals. In California the Beetle became a favorite basis for modification: a lowered chassis, polished wheel covers, a tuned engine and a conspicuous livery are the marks of the style this release belongs to. Yellow with the Moon logo is among the most recognizable combinations of the whole scene and works on the model without any further changes at all.
Yellow is the hardest opaque color to work with: always spray a white base underneath it, otherwise the result will be uneven and the plastic will show through. Spray several thin coats rather than one heavy one. Once dry, go over the body with a gloss clear coat and polish it; the Beetle has large rounded surfaces on which every flaw shows. Leave the plated parts on the sprue as long as possible and cut them off only just before assembly, so that the surface does not get rubbed. Apply the decals over a gloss surface and seal them with a final coat of clear. Shade the interior in two or three tones, otherwise it looks empty through the glazing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
