Palm leaves - type I., dry are a Model Scene scenery material for 1:32 and 1:35 scale — withered browned leaves of the kind that hang under the crown on real palms.
Responsibility details are not available.
The dry version of palm leaves type I. from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene is intended for the large 1:32 and 1:35 scales. It is not a finished tree but individual leaves in parched brownish shades that are fitted onto a trunk of your own making or used loose as dry tropical growth.
A palm with a perfectly green crown looks artificial on a diorama. In reality dead leaves do not fall at once — they droop down along the trunk and form the characteristic brown skirt under the living crown. It is precisely this detail that makes a model palm credible. Dry leaves therefore come into their own best in combination with the green version: green up in the crown, dry beneath them, pointing toward the ground.
Before gluing, bend the leaves or draw them over an edge, so that they lose their flat shape and gain a limp bend — on a dry leaf the droop is more pronounced than on a living one. Cyanoacrylate handles the gluing, as it holds immediately and lets you hold a leaf in the position you want. The coloring can be deepened with a darker wash or a light dusting of pigment, which strengthens the impression of a parched, dusty scene. Dry leaves also suit lying loose on the ground as fallen leaves, as litter under a palm grove or as material for camouflaging a vehicle.
This is a scenery material for building dioramas, not a model kit. The trunk, the glue, the paints and the base board are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
