This is not a model nor a set of parts, but a sheet of waterslide decals in 1:32 scale. It is used to carry the four-color diamond fuselage covering onto a built Fokker D.VII biplane in the version for machines from the OAW production. Compared with the basic release, the sheet is extended by the interior lozenge, that is, the pattern for the surfaces that are visible from inside the cockpit once the build is finished.
The Fokker D.VII was a German single-seat fighter biplane used in the last year of the First World War. Besides the parent company it was also built by the Albatros works, including the Ostdeutsche Albatros Werke branch, designated OAW. The treatment of the covering differed between the plants, which is why the decal sets are divided by manufacturer. Lozenge was an industrially printed covering fabric with a diamond grid; it existed in a four-color as well as a five-color version and it replaced hand spraying of the camouflage.
The interior lozenge goes on first, that is, before the fuselage is closed up, while the parts are still easy to reach. The base has to be smooth and glossy on the inside as well. The outer covering comes only after the build is finished and the whole model has been given a gloss clear coat. Soak the decals briefly so the adhesive is not washed out, and settle them in smaller areas. Squeeze the excess water out with a soft brush from the center toward the edge, use decal softener on edges and ribs and let the film set without touching it. Finally even the surface out with a flat or satin coat so that the glossy intermediate layer disappears.
This is an accessory for a model. The model itself, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included in the package.
