A decal sheet from the brand Caracal Models for large models of the Lockheed T-33A jet trainer aircraft in the markings of Air National Guard units, that is the air components of the National Guard of the individual states of the USA. The 1:32 scale gives the printing room, so even smaller lettering is legible and the color stripes on the tanks and the tail stand out. The particular machines, the units and the number of schemes you will find on the packaging and in the instructions supplied: go by what the manufacturer gives on the packaging. The Lockheed T-33A is a two-seat jet trainer aircraft derived from the F-80 Shooting Star fighter, lengthened by a second seat for an instructor. It became one of the most widespread trainers of its time and served for decades in many countries. The machines of Air National Guard units tended to be carriers of striking color additions on the tail surfaces and the tip tanks, and that is exactly why they are attractive for modelers.
Aircraft of this category are often built in a glossy metal finish, and that is the most demanding base for decals of all. A metallic surface is smooth but sensitive: a decal has to settle on it without the slightest bubble, otherwise silvering is visible at first glance. Before application, therefore, lay a thin coat of gloss varnish on the painted metal, which seals the metallic finish and at the same time improves adhesion. Settle the decal on a drop of water with a degreased surface, accompany it carefully to the place with a soft brush and press the water out from the center toward the edges. Soak the surplus up with a dampened cloth, not a dry one, as a dry one would shift the film. With large areas, apply the softener in parts and let it work without interference. Once dry, check the edges against the light and remedy any silvering with a prick of a pin and a drop of softener.
