A masking set for the F-4 version of the 109 in 1:32 scale. It covers the cockpit canopy from both sides and offers three stencils for the national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
After most of the fighter units moved east, only two were left in the west in 1941: JG 2 and JG 26. With the F-4 version they held the whole French coast against British sorties and faced an opponent who flew over his own territory and could afford to take risks. The German machines, by contrast, took off from grass airfields near Abbeville and Brest and ventured over England only exceptionally.
The markings of the western machines differed from the eastern ones in that yellow never reached such an extent here. It appeared mainly on the lower part of the engine cowling and sometimes on the fin, whereas the band around the rear was often left out. On the other hand there were unit insignia you will not confuse in a photograph: a cockerel with one wing, an insignia with a letter with the other, and on the rudder the bars for victories mounted up.
The set contains stencils for both sides of the canopy and three national insignia masks. The product is prepared for the Hasegawa kit.
On the bars on the rudder: this is a very small motif that cannot be done with a mask. Keep a decal or a very fine brush for it and plan it only after the film is off the tail surfaces.
Anyone building a coastal machine will appreciate three insignia stencils: on machines of these wings the crosses on the underside of the wing tended to be large and clearly visible, so the masked area matters more to the overall impression of the model than on the later versions.
