This is a set of self-adhesive masks in 1:32 scale intended for building a model of the two-seat Sukhoi Su-25UB ground-attack aircraft. The set contains no plastic parts, so it is not a kit; it serves to let selected areas of a model be sprayed with a crisp and even edge. The manufacturer keeps it under the designation Digital, which in its ranges refers to the blocky, so-called digital camouflage scheme, and ties it to one particular machine with the blue tactical number 62.
A mask defines the area that is to stay free of paint, or conversely the shape that is to be sprayed. Unlike a decal, a sprayed design has no carrier film, forms no step on the surface and once dry it merges with the surrounding finish. With complex patterns with many straight edges it is the only way to get the same result all over a model.
Degrease the surface before a mask is applied and let it cure thoroughly; fresh paint draws in under a mask and a fingerprint shows up as paint creeping under. Lay the mask on dry, without stretching it, and press it down along the whole length of the edge. Apply the paint in several weak coats perpendicular to the edge of the mask, never in a heavy coat drawn away from the edge. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has set, at a shallow angle to the surface.
This is an accessory for building the model, not a standalone kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
