A detail set for the German Fokker E.II and E.III monoplanes in 1:32 scale. It holds laser cut belts, photo-etched parts, a mask and a decal with light wood.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Fokker monoplanes with their wire braced wing were neither fast nor agile. Even so, the turn of 1915 and 1916 is associated with them as the period Allied airmen called the Fokker Scourge: the credit for that belonged to a synchronizing mechanism that allowed a machine gun to fire straight through the arc of the propeller. For the first time the pilot aimed with the whole aircraft and did not have to hit off to the side. It was on these machines that Max Immelmann and Oswald Boelcke built their reputations, and it was here that the tactics the fighter arm lived on for decades afterward were created. The E.II had a more powerful rotary engine, the E.III then a greater span and longer endurance.
The list of contents names four parts: laser cut seat belts, a photo-etched sheet, a mask and a decal imitating light wood. The target kit is from Wingnut Wings. The model of the aircraft is bought separately.
The cockpit of an Eindecker is open and the pilot's space is visible from most angles, so the seat with its belts and the small fittings are among the first things a viewer notices. The fuselage structure of steel tubing and the wooden elements call for different finishes, and that is exactly what the enclosed decal is for.
Finishing the inside of the fuselage before the halves are glued together proves itself; photo-etched parts align better on a free part. The mask, by contrast, is best fitted just before spraying, so that it does not gather dust.
