An accessory from Dead Design for the plastic model of the Ki-61-I Hien. It takes care of the inspection covers, the lids of the service openings on the airframe, which on the real machine usually stood out from the surrounding surface in both shade and sheen. The ALU designation in the name refers to a version with an aluminum, metallic-looking finish, that is, an alternative to the basic version of the set. The parts are cut to the shape and spacing that match this type, so nothing has to be measured out or cut by hand. It is not a kit, and these are not decals either.
A metallic look for the inspection covers suits cases where you want to break up the surface of an aircraft with a subtle contrast without having to touch it with paint. Thanks to its liquid-cooled V engine the Ki-61 had a slender, smooth airframe on which large uniform areas quickly look dead. It is precisely in 1:32 scale that fine variety in the surface pays off most, because the model is large and a viewer will come up close.
This is an accessory for a plastic model, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
