A resin replacement set of wheels for a North American T-28 Trojan kit in 1:32 scale, in the form for machines operating from land bases and for the later T-28C and T-28D versions. It is not a model of the aircraft but a detail accessory. A resin casting gives a sharp tread pattern and a legible hub shape and has no parting line that you would have to sand away on plastic wheels — and that is where the detail on wheels is most often lost. The manufacturer divides Trojan wheels according to groups of versions and according to the manner of deployment, so you pick exactly the combination you need.
The North American T-28 Trojan is a two-seat aircraft with a piston radial engine and nosewheel landing gear, originally intended for training. The T-28C is the naval training version adapted for practicing carrier landings, and the T-28D a later derivative for the support of ground troops with the ability to carry external stores. Compared with the older T-28A and T-28B, machines of this group of versions had different landing gear equipment, which is why the manufacturer keeps a separate set of wheels for them. Operating from paved land runways also shows up in the wear and dust on the tires differently from operating from a deck.
Wash the castings first in lukewarm water with detergent so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a fine knife; do not break them off. Level the cuts with fine abrasive paper, ideally wet and with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate super glue; cement for plastic will not join resin. Apply a primer before painting. Set the tire apart from the hub in shade — a dark gray with a hint of brown looks more faithful than pure black — and add a fine dust pigment to the lower part of the tire so that the wheel does not look factory-new.
This is an accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
