About product

HGW Roland C.II – engine (1:32)

An aftermarket set of brass photo-etched parts from HGW intended for detailing the engine of the plastic model of the German aircraft L.F.G. Roland C.II in 1:32 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory aimed at the Mercedes D.III inline six and its fittings – the piping, the fittings, the cooling elements and the small details that cannot be captured faithfully in injection molded plastic.

The real subject

The Roland C.II Walfisch was powered by a water-cooled Mercedes D.III inline six of around 160 horsepower. It is precisely the engine and its installation that are among the most interesting areas on period aircraft for modelers aiming at a faithful replica.

Building tips

The fine parts of the engine call for accurate gluing with cyanoacrylate glue and patient painting of the metal and brass elements. It is best to paint the details before they are fitted into the fuselage.

Who the set is for

  • For advanced modelers focused on a faithful engine.
  • For builders of First World War aircraft in 1:32 scale.
  • As an accessory to a separately bought plastic model.

The aircraft kit itself is not included in the package. Glue, paints and tools are not enclosed.
