A 1:32 SE.5a masking set from HGW. It is not an aircraft model but precisely shaped self-adhesive masks for spraying the canopy framing and the other glazed areas of the SE.5a in 1:32 scale easily and cleanly.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of self-adhesive masks, not a stand-alone model. The HGW masks are precisely cut from fine Japanese paper tape (kabuki) and serve to mask the glazed areas when spraying the SE.5a fighter in 1:32 scale. They let you spray the canopy framing and the other glazed areas sharply and without paint creeping under the edge. The masks are designed to the shape of the corresponding kit in this scale and are not intended for the model itself.
The Royal Aircraft Factory SE.5a was a British single-seat fighter of the First World War. Thanks to its sturdy structure, good speed and reliable water-cooled engine it ranked, together with the Sopwith Camel, among the most successful Allied fighters, and a number of well-known aces flew it.
Carefully lift the pieces off the sheet, transfer them onto cleaned and degreased glazing and press the edges down thoroughly so that paint cannot creep underneath. The masks follow the framing of the canopy, so the slow cutting of tape is unnecessary. For thin areas use thin coats of paint and lift the mask off while the sprayed finish has only just dried. The leftover parts of the sheet can be used to cover the surrounding areas against overspray.
This is an accessory for masking; the kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
