HGW masking set – Sopwith Snipe (1:32)

A set of HGW self-adhesive masks for a model of the British Sopwith Snipe fighter in 1:32 scale. It is neither a model nor a decal — these are pre-cut masks that are stuck onto the parts, oversprayed with paint and peeled off once dry. That gives sharp edges with none of the thickness of a decal.

The real subject

The Sopwith Snipe was a British single-seat fighter of the end of the First World War, conceived as the successor to the famous Sopwith Camel. It entered service in 1918 and after the war served with the Royal Air Force for a number of years.

Use

• Separate the film, stick it onto a clean surface and press the edges down.
• Spray the paint in thin coats so that it does not creep under the mask.
• Once the paint has set, carefully peel the mask off.
