The goat Bertram in 1:35 scale from MAiM: an unpainted animal figure that brings life into rural, military and post-apocalyptic dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
This figure of a goat, which the manufacturer MAiM has christened Bertram, is one of those small props with a big effect. Animals are often the first thing a viewer looks for in a diorama, because they reveal at once that the scene is alive. The figure is supplied as an unpainted casting, so you decide the final coloring of the coat yourself.
A goat naturally suits a rural yard, a market, a country lane and a column of civilians; it serves just as well as an unexpected element in a modern urban or post-apocalyptic scene, where animals roam freely. In 1:35 scale it sits well with ordinary military vehicles and figures, whether you are building a village of the Second World War, a Middle Eastern street or a quiet civilian picture. It works wittily paired with a figure of a shepherd or a curious soldier, and a small story appears that lifts the diorama.
Clean the casting up, wash it and give it a light primer. Paint the coat in layers with acrylic: a base tone, a dark wash in the hollows and a dry brush to bring out the texture. Goats come in many colors from white through rusty brown to black, so there is no need to be afraid of experimenting; pull the eyes and the horns out with a fine brush, and oil paints then allow soft transitions on the back and the flanks.
The figure is supplied unpainted, meant to be cleaned up, primed and painted. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
