HGW masking set – Sopwith Triplane (1:32)

A set of HGW self-adhesive masks for a model of the British Sopwith Triplane fighter in 1:32 scale. It is neither a model nor a decal — these are pre-cut masks that are stuck onto the parts, oversprayed with paint and peeled off once dry. The result is sharp edges with none of the thickness of a decal.

The real subject

The Sopwith Triplane was a British single-seat fighter triplane of 1917 used by naval aviation. Thanks to its three flying surfaces it excelled in rate of climb and agility and was given the nickname Tripe.

Use

• Separate the mask, stick it onto a clean surface and press the edges down.
• Apply the paint in thin coats so that it does not creep under the film.
• Once the paint has set, carefully peel the mask off.
