1:35 3cm Flakvierling Crew Set

Crew of the 30 mm Flakvierling, figure set 1:35 (Das Werk)

The package holds a set of crew figures in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of the weapon: the set complements the four-barrel Flakvierling cannon, which is sold as a separate kit. A multi-figure set solves what individual figures cannot, that is the mutual placement of the figures matched to a particular weapon.

Placing it in a scene

On a multi-barrel weapon the crew is spread around the mount and every figure has its place. When building, therefore, first lay the figures out dry on a provisional base and look for a composition in which the figures do not overlap from the main viewpoint and free space is left between them. Mark the spacing with a pencil, and only then glue. If you add single figures of the same line to the scene, watch that the poses are not repeated; two identical gestures side by side give the set away at first glance.

Assembly and painting tips

Clean the figures of the parting lines and the sprue remains; with sets it pays to go through all the parts at once and sort them by figure, so that small pieces do not get mixed up. Choose the glue according to the material of the casting: cement for plastic on plastic, super glue on resin. Paint in series: the primer and the base tone of the clothing and the skin on all the figures at once, individual details right at the end. Small variations in the tone of the uniforms look natural, but keep the base common, otherwise the group falls apart. Finally unify them with matte clear coat and add dust on the footwear matching the base of the diorama.

Who the set is for

• builders of dioramas with anti-aircraft weapons in 1:35
• modelers who want to man a whole weapon at once
• anyone interested in painting a group of figures in series
• completing a scene built around one main model

The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model of the weapon, glue and paints are not included in the package.
