A turned replacement barrel for the 88 mm KwK 36 gun with the late muzzle brake for a model of the Tiger I Ausf. E tank in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 88 mm KwK 36 gun was the main weapon of the heavy tank Tiger I, Ausf. E. The designation L/56 gives the length of the barrel in multiples of the caliber, that is, fifty-six calibers, which at 88 mm comes to roughly 4.9 meters. The long barrel gave the shell a high muzzle velocity and with it a flat trajectory and great range. At the end of the barrel is a muzzle brake, which leads part of the pressure gases off to the sides and reduces the recoil. The set captures its late form.
A turned replacement barrel for a model of the Tiger I in 1:35 scale. A turned part is exactly circular, has no lengthwise join from two halves glued together and the muzzle is open, so drilling and the long business of sanding the seam fall away. The extent of the set, the way it is attached in the gun mantlet and the kits the barrel is intended for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut off the plastic barrel from the kit squarely and level the cut surface, so that the replacement sits true to the axis. Try the assembly dry and check the axis looking from above and from the front alike; a crooked barrel shows up on a finished model at first glance. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a small amount. Degrease the part before painting and lay on a thin coat of a base coat, or the paint will not hold and will rub off during handling.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
