A turned metal part in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It replaces the plastic barrel of the short Italian howitzer of 75 mm in a length of 18 calibers, as the self-propelled gun Semovente da 75/18 carried it in the M40 version. This is not a kit of a vehicle but a detail accessory meant for improving a finished plastic model.
The Semovente da 75/18 was an Italian self-propelled gun of the Second World War built on the chassis of a medium tank of the M family. The M40 version was the first production variant and it came about from the need for mobile fire support. In a low armored superstructure it carried a short howitzer of 75 mm with a length of 18 calibers, which also fired shaped-charge ammunition, and so it made the vehicle an unexpectedly effective means against armored vehicles. The short, thick-walled barrel with its prominent muzzle is characteristic of the vehicle's silhouette.
Cut off the plastic barrel as close to the mantlet as possible and level the cut, so that the turned part seats squarely. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen it lightly; glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a primer suitable for metals onto the metal, or the paint will hold poorly. The muzzle of the barrel is drilled, so it pays to pick it out only gently with a dark wash after spraying.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
