SX-Art 1:35 GAZ-233014 Tiger – tinting film I. is a pre-cut self-adhesive tinting film for the glazing of the Tiger armored car, cut for the kit from Meng. It is neither a painting mask nor a model.

A pre-cut self-adhesive tinting film in 1:35 scale for the glazing of the GAZ-233014 Tiger armored car. Watch the difference against a painting mask: the film is not taken off the part but stays on it and gives the glazing the color cast that real laminated and tinted glass has. The set is cut for the kit from Meng; a film of the same name for the Zvezda kit exists as well, so the target kit is the only detail that distinguishes them. The designation I. means that this is the first part of the series of films for this vehicle — the second part is a separate item.
The cab of the Tiger is tall and boxy, the windshield and the side windows are flat panes seated in thick frames of the body and supplemented with vision ports. A flat area with a sharp frame is exactly what is hard to tint by spraying: tinted varnish is difficult to lay down evenly on a large pane, it builds up at the edge and leaves a darker smear in the corner of the frame. A pre-cut film, by contrast, holds a uniform shade across the whole area and its edge runs exactly along the frame.
Offer the film up dry on the clear part first and check that the cut matches the shape of the glass and the inner edge of the frame. A film cut for a different kit will be out by tenths of a millimeter, and on a flat pane that shows immediately. Stick it on only once the model is finished, varnished and perfectly dry — thinners, varnishes and weathering products have no place on the film any more. Degrease the part, touch only its edges and work the pressure from the center out to the edges so that no air bubble is left under the film.
This is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
