ELEFANT 1:35 German 50-liter drum for brake fluid, ten pieces is a set of small castings for dressing up models of equipment and dioramas of the Second World War period.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package contains ten castings of a fifty-liter drum in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer ELEFANT. It is not a vehicle kit but an accessory with which the bed of a truck, the corner of a workshop tent or an empty area of a diorama is filled. Operating fluids were ordinary equipment of rear-area units and drums are therefore a rewarding element: they can be stacked, tipped over, propped against a wall or loaded onto a trailer.
Ten identical pieces are deliberate, not excess. Only a group of drums creates the impression of a store and makes it possible to layering them into a second row, where it is enough to suggest just the top lids. Sets of this kind are also used as a prop for figures, as an improvised table or as a weight holding a tarpaulin down.
First separate the castings from the casting block and level the mating surface, so that the drum stands upright. Wash the parts before painting and apply a thin primer. The sheet-metal body paints well in a matte color, which you then break up with a dark wash along the rims and a dry brush on the edges. Drums are almost never new: scuffed places, tool marks near the lid, drips that have run from under the cap and mild rust on the lower edge all suit them. If you leave some of the drums cleaner and some heavily dirtied, the group looks livelier than if you unify them into a single shade.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
