Mantis Miniatures 1:35 German officer of armored troops (SS), Second World War is an unpainted resin figure for period-accurate dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin figure in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Mantis Miniatures. It is supplied as an unpainted casting that has to be cleaned up, assembled and painted. The figure represents an officer of the German armored troops of the Second World War period; the unit designation in the name is a factual detail from which the cut of the uniform and the equipment follow. It is not a finished model, nor is it a kit of a vehicle.
The figure is listed as a standing or slightly relaxed pose suitable alongside a vehicle or in a group scene. What matters here is the detail of the cut: the jacket of the armored troops, the trousers, the headgear and the accessories that give the figure a recognizable silhouette. A resin casting renders the transitions of the cloth more finely and the small metal fittings more legibly than injection-molded plastic, which shows above all once a wash and light drybrushing go on. Paired with a figure of a commander in a turret hatch it makes a scene with the crew of a vehicle easy to build.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of the mold release residue, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a sharp knife and never snap them off; sand wet and with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and the joints can be reinforced with a pin of thin wire. Apply a thin primer and only then the paints. Dark uniforms need their surfaces and edges lightened strongly or they will merge; keep the wash light and in the folds only. Build the flesh tones up in thin glazes and let each one dry. Before gluing the figure into the scene, stand it on the base dry and check that it stands without leaning.
The figure is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted resin casting. The model of the vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package.
