About product

Wehrmacht jerrycans, Nowack Bautzen, 1941 pattern, with a pouring tube - 1:35, ten pieces

The package holds ten miniatures of the German standard twenty-liter jerrycan in 1:35 scale in the variant with a pouring tube fitted, with the mark of the Nowack works of Bautzen and in the version after the pattern of 1941. It is not a model of a vehicle and not a kit: it is an accessory with which finished vehicles and a diorama scene are fitted out.

The real subject

A removable pouring tube belonged with the standard can; it was fitted onto the neck so that the fuel could be poured into a tank without spilling and without a funnel. The container itself stayed simple: three handles side by side for carrying by one or by two people, a folding lever closure needing no tools, and pressed crosses on the sides, which stiffen the shell and leave room for the contents to expand. The containers were pressed by several works at once, each with its own mark pressed into the shell.

Use, building and painting

Separate the castings carefully with a sharp scalpel or cutting pliers and sand the areas of the cut; on the thin tube proceed with particular care, as it is the most fragile place on the whole part. Wash resin and 3D printed parts before painting in lukewarm water with dish soap and glue them with super glue, while injection-molded plastic takes thin modeling cement. The variant with a pouring tube is a scenic element: it makes sense where a figure is topping up fuel, not with containers stacked in a holder. Around the neck and the tube suggest a darker scuff and traces of fuel.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers of German Second World War vehicles in 1:35 scale.
  • Makers of dioramas with a refueling scene.
  • Those who want to combine containers in various states on a model and bring the scene to life that way.
  • Anyone who needs a larger number of identical containers at once.

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It was fitted onto the neck of the can so that the fuel could be poured into a tank without a funnel and without spilling. On a model it is a typical element of refueling scenes.

According to the name, ten pieces. Further details of the contents are stated on the box of the set.

It is not. It is a fitting that you add to a finished model or to a diorama.

The thin tube, which breaks easily when being separated from the casting remnant. Work with a sharp scalpel and make the cut gradually.
