A complete resin kit of the German light trench mortar of the First World War in 1:35 from the Czech manufacturer CMK. This is not an accessory set for another model but a standalone model of the weapon, which suits both as the main subject of a display case and as an addition to a trench diorama. The real subjects of models differ between manufacturers; this version captures the later pattern designated n/A.
The leichter Minenwerfer was a light mortar of trench warfare, closer in design to a gun than to a modern mortar: it had a carriage with a recoil mechanism, a shield and wheels. It served to destroy obstacles and field fortifications at short range, where artillery was unsuitable. The later n/A pattern was given a circular base allowing it to be traversed all the way round and a longer barrel, thanks to which it could also fire directly. Being light, it could be moved on a two-wheeled cart or carried by its crew.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent to remove any mold release agent, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, not with nippers. Gluing is done exclusively with super glue, as ordinary plastic cement does not work on resin. When sanding, work wet and protect your airways, as resin dust is irritating. Reckon on a primer coat for the model; a combination of field green and gray tones with a wash into the recesses and a dry brush on the edges comes off well. The wheels and the lower part of the carriage deserve mud and dust pigments so that the weapon does not look like a display-case exhibit.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
