A printed paper accessory for a diorama from the firm ETA diorama for 1:35 scale. The sheet holds period Greek political posters, which are used in a scene to fill walls, fences and poster hoardings. It is a period depiction used for the believability of a present-day urban scene; the accessory serves a purely modeling purpose. It is not a kit, it is not a photo-etched part and it is not a waterslide decal.
The posters are cut or trimmed out of the sheet individually, exactly along the edge of the printing. Onto a wall they are glued with a thin layer of PVA glue applied to the wall, not to the paper; once it has soaked in, the paper moves and a poster glued on straight then buckles slightly by itself, which is exactly what you want in a scene. On rough render it helps to dampen a poster lightly from the back first, so that it follows the unevenness of the undercoat. Over the outside corner of a house or a post a poster bends better when it has been scored in advance with the blunt side of a knife.
In reality posters never hang on their own and untouched. Paste them over one another in layers, tear a corner on some or peel the lower part away, and leave others dirtied with pigment along the edge. Yellowing and fading from the sun are suggested with very thinned oil paint or dry pastel. Go over the white cut edges with a pencil. At the end spray the area with a weak matte clear coat, so that the paper does not reflect light differently from the surrounding wall.
The accessory is supplied as a printed sheet. Glue, paints and clear coats are not included in the package.
