The Israeli IDF Shot Kal Gimel tank in 1:35 scale: a plastic kit of the modernized Centurion from the 1982 Lebanon War, with photo-etched and metal parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit in 1:35 scale captures the Israeli modernization of the British Centurion known as the Shot Kal in its Gimel version, as it looked during the fighting in Lebanon in 1982. Besides the main plastic sprues the package holds clear parts, photo-etched sheet, turned metal items, rubber components and a decal sheet. It is therefore a combination of injection-molded plastic with premium detail for a higher level of refinement.
The Shot Kal is the Israeli rebuild of the Centurion, in which the original drive was replaced by an American diesel engine and a new transmission. That modification markedly improved the reliability and the range of the machine in Middle Eastern conditions. The Gimel version took in further changes to equipment and protection. Shot Kal tanks played a significant part during the Israeli operation in Lebanon in 1982, when they formed the backbone of the armored units.
With an armored vehicle it pays to assemble and paint the running gear before closing the hull. Glue the photo-etched and turned parts with cyanoacrylate glue and clean them up with a light touch. Apply the characteristic Israeli gray-green tone with an airbrush over primer, and dark washes into the recesses plus filters to unify the tone will add depth. Suggest the dust and mud of the Lebanon campaign with pigments on the lower areas and the running gear, and paint chipping will then bring out the hard-worked edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
