Js Work - the Jumbo silicone mold, hexagonal paving 1:35

A flexible silicone mold in the enlarged Jumbo format, about 270 x 180 mm in size. It serves for casting hexagonal paving for dioramas, display cases and bases in 1:35 scale. It is neither a finished part nor a kit but a reusable tool with which you cast the paving in exactly the quantity the scene needs.

Against the ordinary small molds the main advantage is the area of the casting. A continuous sidewalk or courtyard is put together from a smaller number of pieces, so fewer joints arise in the scene that have to be filled and masked.

Use

• Lay the mold on a flat surface and pour the mixed medium into it in a thin stream, so that no bubbles are caught.
• Plaster, modeling putty and resin can all be cast; thicker mixes are helped to settle by lightly tapping the surface underneath.
• Once it has set, bend the mold and pop the casting out; the silicone does not have to be coated with a release agent.
• Chamfer the edges of the casting with a file, so that the individual segments follow on from one another without a visible joint.
• Color the finished area through; a dusty pigment and a dark wash will bring the regular hexagonal pattern out.
