A masking accessory for painting road wheels, not a kit. The set deals with the most laborious place of the whole running gear: the transition between the rubber tire and the disk, which is drawn around by hand only with difficulty and never twice the same.
The set is cut for the wheels of the kit of this tank destroyer from Revell. Wheel masks follow from the dimensions of a particular part, so they need not line up on a kit of another brand.
Some modelers want a light band, a production inscription or exercise markings on the tire in addition. Here it has to be said plainly: the set will deal with the boundary of rubber and disk, but it will not mask the band around the perimeter of the rubber for you – a narrow strip of ordinary masking tape or a thin line applied with a brush serves for that. The set does, however, markedly help such work along, because it gives you a clean and regular base from which measurements can be taken.
The procedure that proves itself: first spray the whole wheel in the color of the rubber, let it cure fully, and only then deal with the disk. Once the wheel is finished, the light band comes – apply it with heavily thinned paint in several passes, because a light shade on dark rubber has a tendency to make uneven streaks. Soften the band at the end with a light dust filter, otherwise it comes across as too hard and new. Leave markings suggested rather than literal – in this scale the eye reads contrast more than the shape of letters.
It is a masking accessory for modelers. The package holds neither a kit, wheels nor paints. Store the sheet flat and out of direct sunlight.
