Kriegsmarine WWII sailor with rope for German schnellboats is a resin figure of a sailor with a rope in 1:35 scale from the Aerobonus brand. It is supplied as an unpainted casting to complete a model of a fast boat or a harbor scene.

This is an unpainted resin casting, not a finished figure or a model of a vessel. The figure represents a sailor of the Kriegsmarine of the Second World War period in a pose with a rope in his hands, that is while mooring or fending off a vessel. The 1:35 scale matches the usual models of fast torpedo boats and other smaller vessels that the figure is added to. Aerobonus is the figure range of the Czech maker Aires, known for fine castings and natural posture.
Models of vessels look empty without a crew, and a viewer finds it harder to judge their size. A figure in a natural working pose gives the scene both scale and a story, and it does so even when there is only one of them on deck. A pose with a rope suits the bow or the stern beside the mooring fittings, next to a bollard or at the railing. The rope cast with the figure can be replaced with real string soaked in thinned PVA glue, which can be shaped into a natural sag once dry and linked up with the deck equipment of the model.
First wash the casting in warm water with a drop of detergent, so that the mold release residue disappears, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw rather than snapping them, and true the surfaces up on abrasive paper, wet and with respiratory protection. The parts are joined with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting. The flesh is built up in layers from a darker base to the lighter surfaces, and the clothing comes out after a dark wash in the folds and fine lightening of the edges with drybrushing. Seal the finished figure with matte varnish.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package.
