MIM-23 HAWK JGSDF 1:35 — a plastic kit of the HAWK anti-aircraft missile system in service with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force from AFV Club.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the MIM-23 HAWK anti-aircraft missile system in the configuration of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer AFV Club. Missile hardware is among the less usual subjects, and a launcher with slender missiles is striking both on its own and as the basis of a diorama of an air defense position.
The MIM-23 HAWK is an American medium-range anti-aircraft missile system with semi-active radar guidance, brought into service in the sixties and modernized continuously afterward. The launcher carries three missiles, and in a firing position radars for searching and illuminating targets complete them. Japan operated the HAWK system for long decades with the anti-aircraft units of the Ground Self-Defense Force, before newer systems of domestic manufacture replaced it. The Japanese batteries differed from the American ones in details of the equipment and in their typical coloring.
Glue the slender bodies of the missiles carefully and sand the joints over so that no visible scratches stay on the rounded surface. Before painting, put a primer under everything; the uniform green coloring will be livened up by a fine lightening of the surfaces and a dark wash in the pressings of the launcher. Fit the fins of the missiles only after painting — it will make both the masking and the handling easier.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
