An add-on set of NbKWrf 39 smoke dischargers for a model of the Panzer III tank in 1:35 scale. It replaces the coarser parts from a kit with a more faithful rendering.
Responsibility details are not available.
The NbKWrf 39 is a German device for launching smoke candles, fitted to combat vehicles during the Second World War. The candles were loaded into short tubes grouped into a block and fired from the commander's position, so that the vehicle disappeared behind a smoke screen. The blocks were placed on the sides or on the rear of the hull, and this set is intended for the Panzer III tank.
The set contains small discharger parts to be glued onto a model. The dimensions and the division of the parts match 1:35 scale. The number of pieces and the exact placing on a particular version of the vehicle are given in the manufacturer's instructions, because the position of the blocks differed between the individual standards of the Panzer III. The parts are small, so take them out of the package over a tray and put them down in a dish, not on the bench.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on them. They are glued with superglue, or with a two-part adhesive. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the mating surface stays flat. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is a good idea to darken the tubes with a soot shade, so that the muzzles do not come across as blind.
The set is for modelers who want more finely rendered detail on the hull than a basic kit offers. The model, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
