This injection-molded plastic kit from the maker Trumpeter represents the Chinese PL96 towed howitzer of 122 mm caliber in 1:35 scale. The model has newly created parts, photo-etched elements and rubber tires, and it faithfully captures the characteristic three-leg carriage.
The PL96 is a Chinese howitzer derived from the proven Soviet D-30 design of 122 mm caliber. It stands out for its three-leg carriage arrangement, which allows the weapon to be turned quickly through a full circle. It is a fairly light and easily handled weapon, suited to firing at long range.
During the build take care over the correct spread of the three legs of the carriage, so that the model stands steadily in the firing position. Fit the rubber tires only after painting. You will bring a single-color finish to life with shading, a wash and light dust effects from pigments; a colored base coat (primer) for plastic is worth using.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
