A set of paint masks for a model of the French R35 light tank in 1:35 scale. The masks are applied to the model before spraying and are taken off once the paint has dried.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Renault R35 was a French light tank of the second half of the 1930s, built to accompany infantry. It had a two-man crew, a small one-man turret and a short tracked running gear. In the French army it was one of the most numerous types of its day, and captured examples then served with other armies as well, which makes it a rewarding subject for a build and for a diorama.
Paint masks mark off the areas that are to stay free of paint or to receive a different shade, so the boundaries do not have to be laboriously outlined with a brush. On vehicles they are most often used for a multicolor camouflage finish and for painting small areas. Compared with crepe tape they hold their shape and can be laid even on a curved surface. The exact extent of the set and the particular kit it is meant for are given by the manufacturer in the instructions, so follow them.
Apply the masks to a surface that is clean, degreased and has a dry previous coat of paint. Press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a blunt point, so that paint cannot seep under them. Spray in thin coats and rather at right angles to the edge of the mask. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off, carefully and at an angle backward, so that it does not pull the film of paint with it. Any adhesive residue can be wiped off with a cotton swab dampened in clean water. You can manage a fine division of shades even without retouching by hand.
The package holds a mask set. The model of the vehicle, paints and thinner are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
