A resin detail accessory from the manufacturer ELEFANT in 1:35 scale. It replaces the rear armor plate of the hull of the late chassis of the Pz. IV tank in version H and of the vehicles derived from it, in the rendering with an early idler wheel mount. Combining the rear and the tensioner in one part removes the most common source of inaccuracy, which is a wrong position of the idler wheel relative to the plate.
The rear plate of the hull carries the idler wheel mount, the towing eye and a number of small details that changed with the production batches. It is here that the final appearance of the whole rear is decided, because a differently placed tensioner changes the geometry of the track and the way the vehicle stands on its base. Injected plastic assembles this area from several parts and the accuracy then depends on how well a modeler manages to fit them together. A resin casting supplies the plate complete with the mount in one piece, so the relative position is given and you only deal with the join to the hull.
Fit it dry and patiently. Offer the rear plate up to the hull, check that it is square to the longitudinal axis and to the base, and note where material will have to come off. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface on abrasive paper laid on glass. After degreasing in warm water with detergent and drying, glue it with cyanoacrylate glue. Fill the seam with putty and sand it carefully, so that the welds and the edges are preserved. When painting, bear in mind that the rear was always the dirtiest part of a vehicle, so heavier dust, mud and traces of exhaust gas belong here; just apply them in thin layers.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and it is not a kit in its own right. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
