A resin accessory from the manufacturer ELEFANT in 1:35 scale. It replaces the rear armor plate of the hull of the Pz. IV tank chassis in version J and of the vehicles derived from that chassis, in the rendering with a mid idler wheel mount. It is not a vehicle model but a part built into a kit in place of the original plastic rear.
Version J came about as a simplified production change and a number of details of its rear differ from the earlier batches. At the same time the idler wheel mount changed during production, so the same type of vehicle may have a different rear depending on its date of manufacture. A model built with the wrong combination may look right at first glance, but a knowledgeable eye will not miss it. A resin casting supplies the plate together with the matching mount at once, so there is no assembling and fitting of several plastic parts, where errors easily add up.
The key is clean gluing and filling. After cutting the casting block off, level the mating surface on abrasive paper laid on a flat board and try the fit dry several times. Degrease the part in warm water with detergent before gluing. Apply the cyanoacrylate glue in drops at several points, not in a continuous bead, so that you have time to align the plate. Fill the resulting seam with putty, sand it back with fine paper once cured and rescribe the protected welds if the sanding reaches them. Begin the painting with primer across the whole joint, so that the difference in materials does not show under the paint.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and it is not a kit in its own right. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
