A photo-etched brass set from Voyager Model in 1:35 scale holding the external stowage bins for the Soviet IT-1 missile tank. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a detail accessory that replaces the coarser plastic parts of the base kit with thin-walled photo-etched bins with a faithful structure. The dimensions of the bins are based on the hull sides of the Trumpeter 05541 kit.
The IT-1 was a Soviet missile tank developed on the chassis of a medium tank, in which a launcher for anti-tank guided missiles replaced the conventional gun armament. It was one of the first attempts to put guided anti-tank weapons on a tracked chassis. The external stowage bins served to carry tools, equipment and the crew's personal kit.
Bend the photo-etched walls of the bins in a bender or with a steel ruler, glue the joints with super glue and reinforce the corners with a drop of glue from the inside. Light annealing helps with bending fine brass. Glue the bins to the cleaned-up hull sides once the original plastic parts have been removed. Degrease the parts before painting and apply a base coat; the inside of the bins will take a restrained patina.
The accessory does not hold the model itself, glue or paints. It is intended for completing a kit you already have.
