Figures in 1:35 scale with the subject of a Scottish piper and infantry in the Normandy campaign of 1944. A rewarding addition to a diorama and to a vehicle in the same scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The piper belonged to the Scottish infantry regiments as a living tradition that survived even the passage to modern war: playing went on during moves, parades and ceremonial occasions, and the music was meant to support the cohesion of the unit. The set is set in the fighting in Normandy, which began with the landing in June 1944. For a diorama it is a rewarding subject, because a musician beside an infantryman carries a story in itself, even without a vehicle or extensive terrain around.
These are figures in 1:35 scale, that is, in the most widespread scale for ground equipment; they therefore go with vehicles, buildings and terrain bases in the same scale. How many figures are in the package, what poses they are in and whether equipment and weapons belong to them as separate parts are given in the maker's illustration and instructions. Plan the composition by that too, so that the figures do not stand side by side without a relation to one another.
Before painting, wash and degrease the parts, cut the excess material off a little way from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder down. Then go over the figures with a primer paint; only on a uniform base will you see where an unevenness has stayed, and the paint holds better on it. Paint the faces in thin coats from a darker tone to a light one and let the shadows settle in the wrinkles. Bring the uniform out with a dark shade in the folds and a lighter one on the edges. The bagpipes are a small but conspicuous element; if they are a separate part, paint them before you attach them.
Paints, glue, a base and vehicles are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
