The BMPT is a Russian tank support fighting vehicle, known under the designation Terminator. It came about on the chassis of a main battle tank and its task is to cover tanks against infantry and lightly armored targets in built-up terrain. Its barrel armament is a pair of 2A42 cannons of 30 mm and a pair of AG-17D automatic grenade launchers of the same caliber. A grenade launcher is not a cannon: it fires grenades at a low muzzle velocity along a steep trajectory, whereas a cannon delivers direct fire.
The set replaces the barrels from the kit. According to the name it holds four pieces, that is, two barrels for the cannons and two for the grenade launchers. Replacement barrels are bought mainly for the sake of shape: a kit barrel tends to be divided lengthwise and the join left after gluing runs along its whole length, which on a thin cylinder is hard to sand down.
Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down, so that you do not sand the shape away at the root of the barrel. Wash and degrease the parts before gluing and before painting alike. Use cyanoacrylate glue, which joins even materials that cement for polystyrene has no effect on. While gluing, watch that both barrels of the cannons are parallel and point along the axis of the mount; on a finished model a deviation is conspicuous. Apply the paint in a thin coat, so that the fine edges at the muzzle do not get flooded.
A set of barrels is supplied. The model of the vehicle, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
