Aber Steyr RSO mit Pak 40 – Vol. 1 (basic set) is a photo-etched metal detail set in 1:35 scale for refining a plastic model of the German tracked tank destroyer.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal detail set from Aber in 1:35 scale, the first part (Vol. 1, the basic set) devoted to the improvised German Steyr RSO tank destroyer with the 7.5 cm Pak 40 antitank gun. The set adds thin metal parts that plastic moldings cannot capture faithfully and markedly lifts the level of detail on the finished model.
The Steyr RSO (Raupenschlepper Ost) was a fully tracked artillery tractor developed for the demanding conditions of the Eastern Front. In the late phase of the war the Germans mounted the 7.5 cm Pak 40 antitank gun on its chassis and so created a simple, open self-propelled tank destroyer. The vehicle stood out for its cross-country ability, but it was lightly armored and the crew was exposed to fire.
Break the photo-etched parts carefully out of the fret with a sharp blade and dress the edges. Make the bends along the etched score lines using a bending tool or two rules; thicker parts can be briefly annealed to make forming easier. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue or two-part epoxy. Lay a primer on the metal before painting, or the paint will not hold well.
This is a photo-etched detail set, not the model itself. The model, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
