Pmask 1:35 Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.B, a masking set

This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. The set holds self-adhesive masking templates machine-cut to the shape of the parts of one particular plastic kit of the Sturmgeschütz III assault gun in the Ausf.B version in 1:35 scale. The templates are stuck onto the places that are to stay unpainted during spraying, and they are lifted off once the paint has dried.

Use

• Degrease the surface of the model before applying the mask and let it dry thoroughly.
• Press the mask down along the whole length of the edge, so that paint cannot creep under it.
• Apply the paint in thin coats, at a right angle to the surface rather than at an angle under the edge of the mask.
• Remove the template shortly after the paint has dried, not after the finish has fully cured.
• Use tweezers with blunt jaws to lift it off, so as not to scratch the finish.

The real subject

The Sturmgeschütz III was a German tracked assault gun of the Second World War, built on the chassis of the Panzer III tank. It had no rotating turret, and the main gun was mounted in a fixed superstructure on the hull, which lowered the silhouette of the vehicle. The early versions including the Ausf.B carried a short barrel of 7.5 cm caliber and were intended above all for direct fire support of the infantry. The Ausf.B was the first series-produced variant and it brought wider tracks and a modified running gear.

For modelers building early versions of the assault gun in 1:35 scale who want clean transitions between shades and vision ports with no paint residue. It suits work with an airbrush especially well.
